At Ashley Orthodontics, we offer tips for keeping your aligners in tip top shape so they can stay as translucent as possible throughout your treatment.
CLEANING DON’TS
As you receive your Invisalign® aligners, we will go over the best ways to care for them, as well as some cleaning “don’ts” such as:
• Do not place aligners in hot or boiling water
• Avoid using abrasive cleaners that might scratch or blemish the surface of the aligner
• Avoid soaking aligners in mouthwash, as it might discolor the aligners, making them more visible.
• Do not soak your aligners in denture cleaning solution, as it is abrasive to the plastic.

HOW DOES THE iTERO SCANNER WORK?
The iTero Element Digital Scanner utilizes an intraoral wand to scan the details of your tooth surfaces and oral structures. It comfortably moves over each tooth and records hundreds of data points that are uploaded into the touchscreen chairside computer software and monitor. You will be able to see your digital impression being made during the scanning process.
A digital scan usually takes 15-20 minutes, using the radiation-free, confocal laser technology to record the topographic details of your teeth and oral structures. The scan provides Dr. Ashley with a precise 3D model of your teeth and mouth that she can view from any angle and see exactly how your teeth come together in the bite relationship.
